One of my favorite things in the whole world is planning an outdoor, tented wedding in Louisiana. From the beginning Katy had a vision, which we achieved over the following year of enjoyable planning and execution. Katy and Blair exchanged vows at Fatima Catholic Church with a gorgeous wedding reception to follow at the UL Lafayette Alumni House.

We realized early on that it would be important to ensure that our space flowed easily, given the large amount of approximately 500 guests. At the entrance, Ted Viator designed a gorgeous wedding arch, which welcomed everyone into the garden. Here, guests found a beautiful armoire-turned-guestbook-table plus refreshing cocktails provided by Marcello’s Wine Market. As our guests flowed to the reception area, they were treated to Sam Trahan’s delicious spread of South Louisiana cuisine accompanied by an upbeat atmosphere of chandeliers and bulb lighting, which created the optimal blend of soft and vibrant hues.

On the evening that Katy and Blair met, they remember dancing the night away. It was no question that they wanted their wedding night to be the same. One of Katy’s requests early on was that her evening be focused around two things: the band and the dance floor. Souled Out Band ensured this vision with a fun-filled atmosphere. As her wedding planner, I secured her requests by highlighting the band and dance floor area with a focal point, which was a dreamy boxwood backdrop provided by Party Central. The backdrop drew in guests and got them exactly where we wanted them….on the dance floor!

Several special elements throughout the evening were coordinated and some consisted of our live painter, Lauren Brasseaux with Sibley Designs and Judice Inn hamburgers as a midnight snack, which capped the night off perfectly.

Throughout Katy and Blair’s wedding day, our wonderful team of wedding vendors worked together to provide amazing elements, which truly made their day unique. Catherine Guidry Photography and Aperçu Films captured the ceremony and reception effortlessly, which will allow us to remember this very special day for years to come. Mary Catherine Dunphy created the most beautiful wedding stationery and helped us establish Katy’s vision and overall theme from the beginning with calligraphy and custom design. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?
